16-Year-Old Girl Living Real Life 'Groundhog Day' Where Each Day Is June 11

For 16-year-old Riley Horner from Illinois, every day is June 11th. On the actual June 11th, Riley suffered a traumatic brain injury when she was accidentally kicked in the head by a fellow student who was crowdsurfing at a dance. Since then, every time she wakes up, she thinks it is June 11th. In fact, Riley's memory resets just about every two hours.

Now, the former athlete and student needs to keep notes and photos with her to review every two hours so she can once again learn the things she has forgotten. Riley struggles remembering where her locker is and explained to WQAD 8 news, "I have a calendar on my door and I look and it's September and I'm like 'whoa.'" She went on to tell the reporter that by dinnertime, she won't remember doing the interview.

According to doctors, there is nothing medically wrong with Riley and there is a chance she could be like this forever. Riley explained, "I'm not making memories and I'm just really scared." Her family is hoping to immediately consult with experts that might be able to shed more light on her situation since research has shown after six months, memory issues can be irreversible.

Riley's mom said, "We need help. We need somebody that knows a little bit more because she deserves better. I mean she wanted to be in the medical field and now she can’t even hold a job if she wanted to."
